SHI Coordinator (Supported Housing Initiative)
Full-time position to provide individual and family case management services for persons that are seriously and persistently mentally ill and homeless or housing vulnerable. Assess aligibility for housing related practical assistance services through the Supported Housing Initiative Program. Provide short-term case management, supportive counseling, advocacy and referral to other community and mainstream resources. Work requires BA/BS with more 2 or more years experience in mental health services and knowledge of substance abuse and community resources required. Successful applicant will be detail oriented, have basic knowledge of accounting practices, and be a team player with excellent interpersonal and written/verbal communication skills. Valid NYS driver's license and access to vehicle required. Must be able to meet in clients' homes, lift up to 40 lbs., negotiate stairs, and perform all duties associated with job responsibilities. Senior Resident Manager (Emergency Shelter)
Full time. Work days: Tuesday – Friday (2-10 pm); Saturday (7-3 pm). Seeking an energetic, compassionate person with strong engagement and interpersonal skills for a leadership position in the Emergency Family Shelter. Position is responsible for managing the daily operations of the program according to the mission, philosophy, policies and procedures of the program and agency. Work in partnership with the Case Mangers and Resident Managers to maintain a safe, comfortable, clean and supportive environment for residents. Main duties include; maintaining the staff schedule; menu, activity, and event planning; and assisting residents in positive decision-making, living skills, cooking, recreation, accessing community resources and crisis intervention. Successful applicants will create a warm, friendly environment and meet the service needs of our residents. Successful candidate will posses an Associates Degree or HS Diploma with 1-3 years experience in residential services and leadership/supervisory experience. Part-time. Work days: Saturday (8-3) and Sunday (3-11). Provided weekend coverage for a 15-bed shelter for adult women with mental illness or special needs. Resident Managers work as a team and are responsible for supervision of the residents and general management of the shelter to insure a safe, secure, comfortable and supportive environment. Full-time position responsible for the provision of court-ordered supervised visitation services to families having children currently in foster care, providing comprehensive intake and evaluation of prospective clients. Participate in assessment process at visitation site, participate in consultation meetings and regularly help staff meetings and provide feedback on issues raised in observation visits. Provide data and input into reunification plan and achieve permanency and program outcomes with designated clients. Successful candidate will possess a BSW/BA with child welfare and/or child development experience preferred, or MSW. Requires computer proficiency and the ability to provide culturally competent practice. Must have car or regular access to a car and a valid license to provide home visits and outreach services. Must be able to meet in client's homes, physically negotiate all manners of domiciles, provide assistance and/or intervention with children and persom all duties associated with job responsibilities. Full-time and part-time position for an enthusiastic candidate to provide services to at-risk youth (ages 10-20 years old) who utilize the services offered through the Barnabas Drop-In Center and Street Outreach. Applicants must enjoy working with youth ages 10-20 years old, recognizing the importance of youth involvement and participation. Job responsibilities include assisting afternoon and evening recreation sessions and creativity groups, community presentations and county-wide outreach efforts. Transportation Aide (Adult Day Center)
Part-Time (Mon-Fri 7:30am-10:00am& 2:45 pm-5:00 pm) (possibility of morning or afternoon only shift) position to provide safe door-through-door transportation assistance to both independent and disabled mature adults. Workday begins and ends at A&E Transportation services. Assist participants in embarking and disembarking the vehicle, secure wheelchairs with lock down straps, and ensure that seatbelts are secured. Accountable for accurate program record keeping, daily statistics, pick-up and delivery times on bus logs, and timely safety incident reporting. Assist with program and service delivery in the event of staff and volunteer shortages and other duties as assigned, attend supervision and required in-service training. Work requires the ability to provide polite, courteous, personal care to participants while arriving and departing the adult day program. Must have current and valid driver license, lift up to 50 lbs. and be able to perform all physical aspects of the position.
