CHILD DAY CARE SERVICES

The Salvation Army of the Syracuse Area operates four licensed day care centers in the Syracuse
Area that provide high quality child care to more than 2,000 low income children each year.



Each program features:
  • A warm and supportive environment for children     who have suffered from, or are at risk for emotional     and/or physical abuse
  • Ongoing, comprehensive developmental assessment
  • Referral, advocacy and support for
        parents and families
  • An integrated environment for children who require     special needs support services on-site
  • Onsite Head Start and Universal Pre-K services at     several sites

    Select one of the following locations for sponsorship:

  • Cab Horse Commons/Salina St.
        Infant Child Care Center – 677 S. Salina St.
  • Kids University – 324 University Ave.
  • Elmwood Child Care Center – 1640 South Ave.
  • The Children’s Center – 401 Montgomery St.

    Volunteer Opportunities:

  • Read a book to a child
  • Help out in a classroom (infants, toddlers,
        pre-schoolers)
  • Greet parents and children, answer phones and     other receptionist tasks
  • Feed one baby for a year—$755

    Support educational field trips—$850

    Purchase program supplies
    (toys, books, puzzles, craft materials)
    For one month—$375
    For six months—$2,250
    For one year—$4,500

    Provide sheets and blankets—$1,035

    Supply educational materials to one
    classroom for a year—$1,065

    Underwrite training and professional
    development for 60 staff—$1,550
